Expert Claims ’Vegan Diet Can Help Prevent Stroke’
Dr. Nasser Razack advises people to drop animal products from their diets for improved health.
A neuro-interventional radiologist is encouraging individuals to go vegan in a bid to help prevent strokes.
Dr. Nasser Razack, a radiologist with Lee Health, advised people to ditch animal products for improved brain nourishment in a recent TV appearance.
“It’s very, very important to try to improve your diet, try to eat more fruits and vegetables in your diet, and try to go more and more vegan every day,” the doctor said.
Prevention
According to doctors, strokes are caused by inflammation, which is influenced by our diet.
“Omega 3 fatty acids are the fats that make up the cells in your body. They are most concentrated in your brain.
“Research has shown that the higher the concentration of the fats in our cells, particularly our brain, the less risk of brain-related disease,” explained Dr. Razack.
Fat
But too much excess fat can also lead to stroke.
Razack said: “Fat is not just a passive tissue in the body. It’s an active substance which means it secretes things that are bad for us.
“It secretes things that lead to cancer, lead to heart disease, and lead to stroke. We don’t want that in our system.
“Plant-based food products allow the mitochondria in our cells to burn more fat.”
