10 High Protein Foods For Muscle Building
Not only do we need protein to build muscle, but it is also often the key to staying full for longer and keeping that excess fat off.
#10 Chicken
Chicken is one of those staples in most diets and for good reason. It contains quite a bit of protein and is a fairly healthy option too, so long as you don’t deep fry it (that means you KFC).
#9 Salmon
We’ve got salmon here because it is the obvious choice in seafood on account of the fact that it tastes so damn good. But fish in general is a good source of, not just protein, but also omega-3 essential fatty acids.
#8 Lamb
Another great protein source with about 23 grams to an 85 gram portion. Another box that lamb ticks is that of haem-iron which helps boost red blood cell production and energy levels.
#7 Kangaroo
Okay, so you might not always be able to get a hold of this stuff (depending on where you live) but when you get the chance, give it a try. It is a huge source of protein and has very little fat.
#6 Shrimp
There are so many different varieties of seafood if you aren’t big on eating lots of fish. The beauty of it is that so much of the food plucked from the ocean is healthy too. This includes shrimp which provides a good amount of iodine in addition to protein.
#5 Lentils
They might not be the first thing you think of when it comes to protein but they have a decent amount and can be good for those people who don’t really enjoy meat that much, or perhaps, are vegetarians but still want to build muscle.
#4 Spirulina
This super food is a favorite of vegans and vegetarians as it contains a lot of protein, among other things like iron. In fact, it contains more protein than any fish, read meat or poultry.
#3 Eggs
This one isn’t a huge surprise, is it? Eggs are almost synonymous with muscle building protein for many, and they are high in Vitamin D which is great for preventing cancer and disease.
#2 Tofu
This is another of those foods used and favored by vegetarians as it makes what the rest of us might call a very good “meat substitute”. It also contains a lot of Vitamin B for boosting energy levels
#1 Nuts and Seeds
Yeah I know you’re not a bird but many cultures around the world relied heavily upon nuts and seeds until a new influence came along. In fact, we should probably all have more of them. Not only a good source of protein, nuts and seeds provide all sorts of nutrients like zinc.
